About me
Dr. Avgerinou is the Program Director for the MA in Learning Design and Technology at the American University of Greece- Global Campus. She holds an MA and PhD in Education from the University of Bath (UK) and has over 25 years of experience as a certified online educator and academic across the US, UK, and Greece. Dr. Avgerinou also holds advanced postdoctoral qualifications in e-Learning Design, Implementation, and Evaluation from the University of London (UK), the University of Hull (UK), and Indiana University (USA). She has built an extensive portfolio of teaching, publishing, and presenting on visual literacy, online and blended learning, action research, and teacher education. She has served in leadership roles for organizations such as AERA, AECT, and IVLA and has been Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Visual Literacy (Routledge/IVLA) since 2012. A Master Reviewer for Quality Matters® and an external specialist for the European Commission’s Key Action 2 initiative, her recent research focuses on the transformative impact of Generative AI on learning design, professional development, and education. Through her work, she continues to advance innovation and excellence in the field of visual literacy, learning design and technology.
