About me
Dr. Naomi Ramirez teaches at multiple colleges, where she uses a critical multimodal lens to challenge Eurocentric ways of knowing and create more humanizing, inclusive learning spaces. She holds a PhD in Education from San Diego State University and Claremont Graduate University, along with master’s degrees in Anthropology and Latin American Studies, and began her higher education journey as a community college student.Raised in the California–Baja California borderlands within a multiethnic family, her work is deeply grounded in community and lived experience. She centers migrant communities and approaches teaching as a creative and relational practice—one that honors storytelling, reflection, and the full humanity of her students. She is a recipient of the Fulbright Research Grant and the Tinker Field Research Grant, both of which supported her work in Latin America. She has also served as a board member of the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education since 2023. Across her work, she is committed to creating spaces for Indigenous, Black, and Brown communities to engage in healing, self-recognition, and empowerment.
