About me
Samira Shiridevich is an Iranian designer and entrepreneur who explores the complexities of freedom, equity, and agency through design. She holds an MFA in Design and Visual Communications from the University of Florida and an MA in Visual Communications from the University of Art in Tehran. In Fall 2022, she joined the graphic design faculty at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Prior to this, she worked as an art director and graphic designer with various agencies in Iran, bringing over a decade of professional experience to her practice. Her work has been presented internationally at conferences, exhibitions, and in publications, including the Design Research Society, AIGA Design Educators Community’s SHIFT{ed} Proceedings series Dialogue, and the Cumulus International Design Conference.
As an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at UNC Charlotte, Shiridevich’s research draws on community-based participatory, horizontal, and co-design approaches to foster social change, creating innovative and inclusive design solutions that support communities. She is fluent in Farsi and English and proficient in Turkish.
