About me
Xiaoning Chen, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of ESL/Bilingual Education at National Louis University. Dr. Chen has two decades of experience in language teacher education in the U.S. and internationally. Her research focuses on visual literacy, multicultural children’s literature, and multimodal literacies. She has published numerous journal articles and book chapters and co-authored three books on supporting multilingual learners’ disciplinary learning through visual literacy. She has presented at international conferences, directed multiple grants, and received the IVLA Education Award in 2022.
